Police arrest student for growing cannabis in his apartment

Paris police have arrested a student whose room had been converted into a greenhouse for growing cannabis, Agence France-Presse reported on Friday, citing a statement from local police.

According to the gendarmes, the young man lives in an apartment in the south of Paris with his mother. In one of the rooms of the apartment, a device for measuring indoor humidity, halogen lamps and humidifiers were installed.

Neighbours, who could not stand the strong smell of cannabis coming from the student and his mother's apartment, immediately contacted the police.

The gendarmes responded to the statement of vigilant neighbors. The guards of order found about fifty hemp sprouts in the young biologist's greenhouse. This is enough to grow at least eight kilograms of the drug.

According to police, the young man, by his own admission, smoked cannabis himself and treated his friends to it.

In addition to cannabis shoots, police also found almost half a kilogram of the drug in dry form.

The young man will be charged later.
