Kazakh prisoner swallows half a kilo of marijuana

Kazakh police officers in Semey (former Semipalatinsk) found 109 capsules of marijuana in a prisoner of a local colony, which the criminal was transporting in his own stomach. This was reported to the online publication Gazeta.kz by the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking (DCT) of the Semey Internal Affairs Directorate.

Earlier, a 32-year-old prisoner, sentenced to ten years in prison for robbery, was transferred to Semey from the Zhambyl colony for health reasons. During a personal search of the criminal at the new place of detention, the colony employees found capsules with marijuana weighing more than 500 grams. According to the police, during the preliminary investigation it turned out that the prisoner was transporting the capsules in his own stomach.

Currently, a new criminal case has been opened against the drug courier under Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (illegal production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances).
