Drug cops bust cannabis plantation

In Primorye, special equipment of fire brigades went on an unusual mission. Instead of water, tanks were filled with chemicals and several hemp plantations were destroyed.

A profitable place in the middle of the coastal taiga. Not far from the village of Dunay, drug control officers discovered a whole hemp plantation. In one area alone, they counted 45 thousand bushes. The harvest is especially large.

Drug police believe that a teenager was looking after the plot. A tent was pitched near the field, and a bag of marijuana was found there. The underage security guard was taken to the police station, and the illegal wild plant was burned.

Arkady Epikhov, head of the department of interdepartmental cooperation in the sphere of prevention of the Federal Drug Control Service: "There were already drug addicts in this place. They took the tops of the heads, which were already ripe, which had the most oil."

The special operation "Poppy" is not over yet, but the drug police have already broken last year's record. This summer they destroyed more than 800 tons of cannabis and opium poppy. Drug dealers are desperately resisting. The operatives' cars have already stumbled upon nails hidden in the bushes more than once.

Arkady Epikhov, head of the department of interdepartmental cooperation in the sphere of prevention of the Federal Drug Control Service: "They block the road, cut down trees, create blockages. We drag them away and drive to the so-called "pataks" to poison them."

In the language of experts, "baiting" means destroying the hemp jungle with special chemicals. Several tons of the solution are poured into the tank of a fire engine. The special equipment is sent on an unusual trip accompanied by police officers.

After heavy watering, the hemp bushes dry out quickly. The substances are environmentally safe, but the Drug Control Department says: this is not the most effective way to combat illegal plots.

Arkady Epikhov, head of the department of interdepartmental cooperation in the sphere of prevention of the Federal Drug Control Service: "In addition to herbicides, a traditional method of destruction is also used - this is sowing cultivated plants in these areas. In this case, soy is used."

This year, law enforcement agencies, border guards, military personnel and a select Cossack detachment have joined the fight against cannabis.

The special operation "Poppy" will continue until the end of autumn. The focus of the drug police is not only on the owners of hemp plantations, but also on the distributors of ready-to-use drugs.
