Petty Officer Gets 5 Years for Selling Marijuana

The Novy Urengoy City Court has issued a guilty verdict against a police officer who was involved in the sale of marijuana. As reported to Nakanune.RU by the Yamal Prosecutor's Office, the Novy Urengoy police officer was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, Subsection "B" of Part 2 of Article 228-1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The police sergeant major, being an employee of the service group of a separate patrol and guard service company of the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Novy Urengoy, was detained during an operational event, while trying to sell 52.6 grams of marijuana. The court sentenced the sergeant major to 5 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.
