Dutch teenagers lead unhealthy lifestyles

Dutch teenagers aged 11 to 16 lead an unhealthy lifestyle. Teenage girls in particular eat poorly, exercise little, smoke cigarettes and soft drugs, drink, and suffer from emotional disorders much more than boys. Modern teenage boys have become more aggressive, usually against the background of alcohol abuse. According to researchers, marijuana smoking among Dutch teenagers has not yet reached alarming proportions: 41% of 16-year-old boys and 30% of girls have tried soft drugs several times in their lives. If in 2003 the number of teenagers who consumed alcohol was 64%, then in 2005 their number was 75%. In 2005, 16% of children aged 12 to 16 had sexual intercourse – exactly the same as in 2001. 80% of teenagers are convinced that they are completely healthy, however, 60% of them indicate that in the last month they had to resort to pills for headaches and sleep disorders.
