For nine hucksters - five gypsies

In Nizhny Novgorod, police officers carried out a successful drug seizure operation. During the operation, officers from the UBOP of the regional Main Directorate of Internal Affairs in the Sormovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod detained nine residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region red-handed while selling drugs in especially large quantities, five of whom were members of the Roma ethnic group.

According to the information and public relations department of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a criminal group of nine people was detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation; the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for six of its participants. During the operation, 160 grams of heroin, 75 grams of marijuana, 2.5 grams of methadone, as well as cash in the amount of 4,600 rubles and five mobile phones used for criminal purposes were seized from illegal circulation.

Based on the facts of drug trafficking by this criminal group, 12 criminal cases have been opened under Article 228.1, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer, or sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances."
