A pharmacy selling drugs has opened in Holland

In the Dutch city of Groningen yesterday, January 19, the first official pharmacy selling recreational drugs from cannabis opened. By presenting a prescription, you can buy drugs there at a price lower than in other pharmacies and even lower than in coffee shops, where soft drugs are sold to everyone.

The pharmacy was opened on the initiative of former city councilor Fleur Woudstra and the patients' union Association of Marijuana for Medical Purposes. The cannabis for sale in the pharmacy is grown by the Groningen company Bedrokan and supplied by the Office of Medical Marijuana of the Dutch Ministry of Health.

In the Netherlands, there are about 15,000 people suffering from AIDS, cancer and other diseases who require drugs, primarily as painkillers. Since 2003, drugs for this purpose have been available in the Netherlands with a prescription. The Groningen pharmacy can supply cannabis drugs with a prescription throughout the Netherlands. It is supervised by an official body, the Health Inspectorate.
