US Police Detain Driver With Marijuana and Crocodile in Suitcase

Arizona border police stopped a car southwest of Phoenix containing a driver high on marijuana and a 1.2-meter-long crocodile packed in a suitcase, Reuters reports.

The driver was pulled over after a dog smelled marijuana coming from the car. During the search, a little “weed” was found on the man. When asked “is there anything else in the car,” the driver replied: “There’s a crocodile over there.”

A search of the suitcase revealed an alligator in good condition. Arizona police arrested the driver on drug charges and turned the crocodile over to the Arizona Fish and Game Service. As it turned out, the crocodile was not smuggled across the Mexican border, but was being transported from California to Phoenix.
