How two students sold "weed"...12/15/2006
One of the pressing problems of the Russian drug business is the involvement of young people in drug trafficking, whose moral principles and legal awareness have not yet been formed. Drug police officers are increasingly detaining young people, including students and even schoolchildren, who have taken the criminal path of earning money.
Like their older "colleagues" in the drug business, young people begin to sell drugs after prolonged use of substances prohibited by law. With the expansion of acquaintances in the drug addict environment, a certain circle of "friends" also appears, who also need regular "feeding" of the body with drugs. And here, as usually happens, more experienced people appear, ready to provide wholesale lots of drugs for retail sale. As the detained drug addicts themselves later complain, the first steps in the drug trade are taken in order to pay for their own dose of the drug. However, soon the “easy” money seizes the young man, and due to inexperience and a sense of impunity, the aspiring drug dealer takes on larger shipments. And then the big money begins, and then the fate of those who fall into the drug trap is the same for almost everyone: at first life seems like a continuous holiday, they give up on studying, then a permanent “business” begins, which ends in detention and a long prison term. There are many examples of this. Thus, in the city of Fokino, Bryansk region, two Obninsk students were detained who, in their free time from studying, were engaged in the distribution of marijuana. Employees of the Obninsk Interdistrict Department of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia in the Kaluga Region came to the attention of two students from one of the Obninsk universities, who, according to law enforcement data, were engaged in the distribution of drugs among young people on the campus. According to the press service of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation for the Bryansk Region, drug police officers soon documented three cases of the friends selling marijuana in matchboxes weighing about 5 grams in total. Both were caught red-handed. During a search of the student dormitory room where they lived, almost 66 grams of marijuana, packaged in 28 packages, were found. The students admitted that they had never been bored during their studies - they smoked "weed" from time to time and treated their friends to it for free. At the beginning of the next school year, they decided to earn some extra money from their hobby. The nineteen-year-old guys found a person from whom they bought dried marijuana cheaply in the amount of several glasses. Then they divided the plant mass into equal parts, packed it in boxes and sold it to anyone who wanted it at a price significantly higher than the purchase price. The young drug dealers put the money they earned in this way in a special hiding place so that later, as they explained to the investigator, they could use it at their own discretion. Operatives detained a wholesale drug supplier. He turned out to be a 29-year-old disabled person of group 2 who lived in a small town in the Bryansk region. He told investigators a touching story about how he became a drug dealer: he began smoking marijuana because, according to him, it was the only way to reduce pain during a serious illness. One acquaintance regularly supplied him with drugs, and the man decided to make money - he sold six glasses of marijuana to one of the students from Obninsk twice. The drug dealer was caught red-handed, so he did not deny his guilt in selling. During a search of the detainee's apartment, law enforcement officers found several more packages of marijuana. The man said that it was intended for his personal use, as well as for his acquaintances in the hospital, where he was going to go, to treat them and smoke together. The Obninsk City Court of the Kaluga Region put a bold end to this case. The drug-dealing students were convicted of illegal sale of narcotics and preparation for illegal sale of narcotics in large quantities, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. One received three and a half, and the other - three years and three months of imprisonment with a fine of twenty thousand rubles each. For the supplier, taking into account his state of health, the court imposed a punishment below the minimum limit - five years of strict regime for illegal sale of narcotics in large and especially large quantities, as well as for preparation for illegal sale of narcotics in large quantities. I don't feel sorry for the adult drug dealer - I feel sorry for the failed young professionals who felt like grown-up and serious men too early, fooling the drug police. The addiction to "weed" that seemed like a teenage prank turned into a harsh reality - prison. Alexander Mikhailov
