For involving teenagers in collecting cannabis, the brothers face up to 8 years in prison

Near Novosibirsk, at the Barlak bus stop, inspectors from the juvenile affairs department (ODN) and criminal investigation officers from the linear police department at the Novosibirsk station detained four young people who were involved in the criminal collection of marijuana, with two of them directly involving two other collectors in committing the crime. This was reported to a REGNUM correspondent on November 28 by the press service of the West Siberian Department of Internal Affairs for Transport.

According to the senior inspector of the ODN, police captain Igor Drozdov, the situation developed as follows. On the eve of leaving the city, two neglected minor residents of the Kalininsky district of Novosibirsk - 9th grade school and lyceum students Nikolai S. and Andrey B. were walking along Kurchatov Street. They were joined by two adult brothers, Sergei and Alexander N. from nearby Unification Street. The brothers, 18 and 24 years old, suggested that the teenagers “kill time” - go with them out of town and help them with something. And to maintain interest, they suggested that the students take a bag and a basin with them.

In the fields behind the "Barlak" bus stop, it turned out that the help consisted of assisting in collecting cannabis in a bag, and the basin was needed to extract hashish from the collected herbal mixture. Having obtained 30 grams of hashish and grabbed about 400 grams of marijuana, all four of them wandered off to the electric train. "On the way back, the senior "teachers" entrusted one of the schoolchildren with carrying a load of marijuana and hashish, so that in the event of detention - which is what happened at the "Barlak" bus stop - they could make big eyes and declare out loud that "they had nothing to do with it," says the police captain.

At that time, the ODN inspectors Valentina Khrupova, Nadezhda Penigina and detectives Viktor Chepel and Aleksandr Lazorsky were conducting a raid to detain criminals who were involving children in stealing metal from the railroad as part of Operation Leader. "However, instead of heavy metal objects, a particularly large batch of drugs was confiscated from one of the schoolchildren," Drozdov continues his story. "The schoolchildren explained the circumstances of the incident, including the nuances of making the drug under the guidance of fellow travelers. Thus, the involvement of minors in criminal activity - not by stealing metal, but by introducing them to the sphere of illegal drug trafficking - did take place."

A criminal case has been opened against the 16-year-old schoolboy and lyceum student under Article 228, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years for illegal drug trafficking. But the adult brothers are additionally charged under Article 150, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for involving minors in criminal activity, with the prospect of imprisonment for up to 8 years.

In total, this year, 19 similar cases were opened in the West Siberian Department of Internal Affairs under Article 150 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
