Toronto Police Destroy 22 Marijuana Plantations27.11.2006
In a seemingly routine raid yesterday, Toronto police dismantled 22 marijuana grows in a single home.
Experts estimate that this is the largest "catch" in the city's history, with a street market value of $5.6 million. Police arrived at a house on Jane Street with a warrant to search five apartments. However, they found a total of 22 apartments on nine of the 13 floors of the building that had been given over to marijuana plantations. It took specialists several hours to clear the plantings and destroy the equipment. Two of those detained during the search have already been charged, and more arrests are likely to follow. Somehow, a large amount of soil was brought into the apartments, in which the plants grew. Powerful light installations were used to create favorable conditions for the growth of cannabis. It is also noteworthy that there was only one electricity meter for the entire building, which made it difficult for the owners of the house to record excessive electricity consumption. canadets.com
