During three days of a large-scale operation to combat drug trafficking, police in the region identified 25 drug crimes, of which 10 were drug sales, the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of East Kazakhstan region told a Kazinform correspondent. 5 drug outlets were liquidated, 56 people were registered, and over 16.5 kg of narcotic drugs, including 30 grams of heroin, were seized from illicit trafficking.

All departments of the Internal Affairs Directorate are involved in the operation, and the police primarily identify major drug dealers. At night, officers conduct raids on the roads of the region to identify drivers driving under the influence of drugs.

For example, on the very first day of the operation in the village of Krasina, a drug dealer of especially large amounts of marijuana was detained. During the inspection of his house, marijuana carefully packaged in bags was found in all the rooms, and a bag containing eight bags of drugs, 2 kg each, was confiscated from the cellar. Moreover, the bags were accompanied by the inscription "thank you". As expected, the drug dealer began to assure that he had stocked up on marijuana for five years ahead for personal use. The total weight of the confiscated drug was 16 kg 100 grams.

It is noteworthy that his accomplice was detained near the house, and 30 paper packages with marijuana and 15 grams of hashish were confiscated from him during an inspection of his car and garage. A criminal case was opened against both "drug lords" under Article 259, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and they face a sentence of 7 to 15 years in prison.

It should be noted that in less than a year in East Kazakhstan, 685 crimes related to illegal drug trafficking have been identified, of which 375 are cases of sale. 290 kg of narcotics, including one and a half kilograms of heroin, have been seized from illegal trafficking.
