73 tons of wild hemp destroyed in Udmurtia

In Udmurtia, the results of the operational and preventive operation "Mak-2006" have been summed up, which the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia for the Udmurt Republic conducted jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Udmurt Republic. The operation took place from May 29 to October 31, 2006.

As part of the operation, preventive measures were carried out: checks in places where hemp and poppy were likely to grow, raids on the gardening plots of residents of the republic, conversations were held with the chairmen of gardening associations, heads of agro-industrial enterprises, heads of rural administrations and residents of the republic. In total, 266 criminal cases were opened during the "Poppy-2006" operation, 211 of them for the sale, 38 for the storage and 10 for the cultivation of narcotic plants.

During the operation, drug control officers and police identified 37 hotbeds of wild drug-containing plants and destroyed 73 tons of wild hemp on an area of ​​more than 11 hectares. They also identified and destroyed 19 poppy and hemp crops. More than 300 kg of drugs were seized from illegal circulation, including 13 kg of heroin, 268 kg of poppy straw and 22 kg of marijuana, the Information and Public Relations Group of the Administration reports.
