More than 60 kilograms of marijuana were seized by Kaluga drug police in the Lyudinovsky district. During a series of operational and investigative measures, several individuals involved in the sale of marijuana in especially large quantities were identified and detained.

As reported by the Information and Public Relations Group of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia for the Kaluga Region, in April 2006, one of the agricultural enterprises of the Lyudinovsky District purchased hemp seeds from the Agricultural Research Institute, which were sown on a field of about one hectare and cultivated for industrial purposes - for seed selection. However, the farmers did not take measures to ensure proper protection of the crops, storage areas and processing of plants. In addition, the enterprise did not have the necessary technological equipment for working with this type of plant: hemp was collected manually and processed with a simple grain harvester, which produced ordinary marijuana instead of seeds.

As a result, drug police seized more than 60 kilograms of already crushed intoxicating weed, which the drug police managed with difficulty to fit into nine bags.
Currently, a criminal case has been opened regarding the sale of marijuana by enterprising citizens, and an investigation is underway.
