Thief in law detained in Moscow

On Wednesday, the 41-year-old leader of a criminal group that controlled food markets was detained in Moscow. As stated in a statement from the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, 41-year-old Azerbaijani thief in law Vagif Suleymanov, who has been repeatedly convicted and known in criminal circles under the nickname “Vagif,” was convicted of possessing marijuana.

According to the press service, police seized 34 g of this drug from an Azerbaijani.

The suspect was detained on Staraya Basmannaya Street while returning home. “According to operational information, Suleymanov is the leader of an ethnic criminal group that has controlled the situation in the capital’s food markets for many years,” the report notes.
