In Orsk, a policeman was arrested for selling seized marijuana01.11.2006
In Orsk, Orenburg Region, a police officer suspected of illegal drug sales on an especially large scale was detained. As the prosecutor's office of the Oktyabrsky district of Orsk reported on Wednesday, employees of the State Drug Control Department found a marijuana dealer in mid-October. The suspect was caught red-handed while selling a batch of drugs to an operative officer of the Federal Drug Control Service. “After the arrest, it turned out that the drug dealer is a police officer,” said a source in the prosecutor’s office. “According to available information, the suspect, due to the nature of his official activity, had free access to material evidence seized from criminals, including drugs. He stole them from storage and sold them,” noted a representative of the prosecutor’s office. A criminal case has been initiated against the policeman under Article 228 of the Criminal Code - “illegal drug trafficking.” On Monday he was taken into custody and placed in a pre-trial detention center, and an investigation is underway.
