Marijuana is the most popular drug in Ukraine

Over the past 9 months of this year, Ukrainian law enforcement officers have seized 25 tons of narcotic substances. This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by Nikolai Andreyev, head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's Department for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking.

According to him, in terms of the number of drugs seized, marijuana is in first place - 17.8 tons, poppy straw is in second place (6.6 tons), amphetamines and medications, including tramadol, are in third place.

"680 thousand doses of tramadol (5 capsules per dose) were confiscated, the cost of which on the black market would have been 1.4 million hryvnia," Andreev said.

According to him, in the last few days alone, the activities of two criminal groups that distributed tramadol both in Ukraine and Russia have been stopped, a correspondent for Novy Region reports.

"An analysis of the situation showed that the number of cases of tramadol being sold without a prescription through the pharmacy network has increased significantly," Andreev emphasized.

Thus, according to him, in just one week, one pharmacy that is engaged in the illegal sale of tramadol has a profit of up to 100 thousand hryvnia.
