Canadian soldiers fail to smoke Taliban out of cannabis thickets

Canadian troops fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan have encountered an unexpected and powerful enemy - nearly impenetrable hemp forests more than three metres high.

General Rick Hillier, head of the Canadian military, said Taliban fighters were using the hemp fields as cover, preventing soldiers from capturing them, Reuters reported.
