American woman convicted of smoking marijuana with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter

A resident of the US state of Montana, Jessica Durham, was convicted of allowing her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter to smoke several times. marijuana through a water hookah, reports Reuters.

Despite the verdict, the woman was released from serving a five-year sentence in prison.

Photos of the girl smoking through a hookah were taken in 2004 by Durham's acquaintance, who did not like the practice.

The child's mother herself stated that smoking marijuana increased her child's appetite and had a calming effect on her daughter.

Jessica Durham has already been convicted - in 2005 she was caught illegally distributing drugs. However, the smoking mother filed appeals against both that verdict and the current one.
