Amur Region: Drug police found 150 kg of marijuana in a dung heap

More than 150 kilograms of marijuana were literally dug up by Amur drug police in the village of Kreshchenovka in Ivanovo District. This was reported to REGNUM on September 25 by the press service of the Drug Control Department for Amur Region.

During the investigative operations, the drug police learned that one of the villagers was storing a large batch of drugs. The operatives who arrived at the scene found a hiding place under a manure pile. In a pit one and a half meters deep, 15 bags of marijuana were neatly laid in two rows on a tarpaulin covering. In total, more than 150 kilograms of dried cannabis were extracted from under the ground.

According to experts, to prepare such a quantity of the drug, it is necessary to collect about a ton of plant tops. The owner of the farmstead, who has been convicted several times, on whose territory the cache was found, denies any involvement in the case. An investigation is underway.

Since the beginning of 2006, this is the third such large seizure of plant-based drugs in the Amur Region. In February, in the village of Krestovozdvizhenka in the Konstantinovsky District, 30 kilograms of hashish were found on a 22-year-old resident of the village. In March, in the village of Nizhnyaya Poltavka in the same district, drug police officers discovered and seized 22 bags of marijuana weighing a total of 230 kilograms during a search. In June, the Konstantinovsky District Court sentenced three village residents involved in this case to imprisonment for terms ranging from three to five years.
