Retired Ukrainian policeman grows cannabis plantation09/15/2006
In the Crimean city of Saki, law enforcement officers destroyed a two-meter hemp plantation grown by a former police officer. As reported by the agency "Novy Region", the cannabis bushes were found in a closed greenhouse of a private home during the special operation "Mak-2006". The 42-year-old planter, who previously held a senior position in the Saki city and regional department, was fired “for negative reasons.” When the operatives got inside the greenhouse, they found themselves in the thickets of a two-meter hemp forest. It was clear from the cuts on the upper branches that the harvest was already being harvested. In the depths of the greenhouse, police officers found 200 grams of dried cannabis, prepared for sale. As the detainee himself reported, he planned to make more than $20,000 in profit from the drugs.
Since the start of the operation in Crimea, 66 criminal cases have been opened, 97 administrative penalties have been imposed, and more than 16,000 poppy and hemp bushes have been destroyed. The area of the harvest was more than 7.5 hectares.
