The first criminal case on the fact of hemp cultivation has been opened in the Chelyabinsk region

The first criminal case has been opened in the Southern Urals on the fact of cultivation of hemp. The drug-containing plant was grown in his garden by an unemployed resident of Korkino. The greenhouse conditions he created promised a rich harvest.

As reported to the correspondent of "Novy Region" in the press service of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Chelyabinsk Region, the bushes of drug plants grew up to three meters. Operatives were put in place to harvest the abundant crop. Detectives went to the garden through the neighboring plot and found the 37-year-old owner of the hemp plantation at work: he was calmly cultivating illegal crops. In the greenhouse, law enforcement officers found 70 hemp bushes. The total weight of the confiscated raw materials was about 20 kilograms. Operatives say that this harvest would have yielded at least three kilograms of marijuana. Now all the bushes have been attached to the materials of the criminal case and are material evidence. The Investigative Department of the Korkino Department of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case under Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances prohibited for cultivation." The maximum punishment under this article is imprisonment for up to 8 years. This is the first criminal case in the Chelyabinsk region, initiated by police officers on the fact of cultivation of hemp. Yes, only poppy cultivation has been successfully stopped.
