In Russia, children have started drinking more but injecting less

In Russia, the increase in the number of drug addicts among minors has decreased, but the number of minors registered with a diagnosis of alcoholism is increasing, the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation (FSKN) said.

“The number of minor drug addicts registered over the last year has decreased by half, but the number of minors registered with alcoholism has increased 2.5 times,” Lieutenant General, head of the department of interdepartmental and information activities of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia, told reporters on Tuesday Alexander Mikhailov.

Thanks to the efforts of the Drug Control Department, more than one and a half tons of heroin have been seized from illicit trafficking this year. But as a result of the operation to seize large quantities of drugs, prices for narcotic substances in Russian regions increased.

At the same time, the general noted: “A holy place is never empty. In Russia we have so many “Mendeleevs” who are capable of inventing drugs from the most innocent substances. These drugs to some extent compensate for the shortage of traditional types.”

As reported by Interfax, Mikhailov also reported that the Russian Federal Drug Control Service currently has fewer questions about night clubs in terms of drug distribution. "Night clubs and entertainment venues, where drugs were previously sold almost openly, have significantly increased their requirements for their staff. We can state that many night clubs, which used to be hotbeds of crime, are becoming real recreation areas for young people," Mikhailov said.
