Primorye: Drug Control Seizes Marijuana and Hemp of the "New" Harvest

VLADIVOSTOK, August 7, PrimaMedia. In Primorsky Krai, law enforcement officers are identifying and destroying plantations of cultivated and wild hemp, as well as poppy, in order to prevent the mass production of such widely used drugs as marijuana, hashish and hash oil from this raw material.

As RIA PrimaMedia was informed on Monday by the information and public relations group of the Primorsky regional department of the Federal Drug Control Service, in the last week alone, two large hotbeds of "Manchurian" were discovered by drug enforcement officers in the Spassky district of the region near the village of Zelenodolskoye. Police officers mowed down more than 500 kg of cannabis that was burned. According to experts, over 158 thousand drug plants were growing on a total area of ​​about 1500 m.

The villagers themselves, who are tired of rampant drug addiction, are increasingly helping the police. They report illegal cannabis plantings via the drug control hotline.

As a result of checking one of such information in the village of Artemovsky, 857 bushes of cultivated hemp more than three meters high were found on an abandoned summer cottage plot. The owners of the hemp "paradise" turned out to be two unemployed young men aged 18 and 20.

The unlucky "botanists" had to part with all their supplies of "dope grass" - during a thorough inspection of the area around the house, the operatives discovered almost 6.5 kilograms of dried marijuana of the "new" harvest.

Despite their young age, drug dealers will have to answer before the law under two “narcotic” articles at once - paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal cultivation) and Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal storage, processing of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities).

In the village of Mayskoye, Khankaisky District, officers of the Ussuriysk Interdistrict Drug Control Department detained a 30-year-old unemployed villager, from whom a particularly large batch of marijuana was also confiscated.

During a search conducted at the residence of a rural drug dealer, the drug was drying on the floor in a storage room. The weight of the confiscated "weed" was more than 1.4 kilograms.

Currently, this citizen is on bail, and a criminal case has been opened against him for possession of drugs in especially large quantities. An investigation is underway.
