In Jamaica, marijuana is accepted as part of the culture.

A government commission of doctors and academics from the Caribbean country of Jamaica has finally acknowledged the obvious - marijuana is part of the local culture, which you can't get away from. No matter how hard the States tried to destroy the Jamaican habit of smoking and selling ganja, they failed. And yet, considerable money was given out to fight this evil: 7.8 million dollars from 1992 to 1998. Still, 40% of the population smoked, smokes and will smoke. Therefore, most likely, on the recommendation of the commission, weed will be allowed in private ownership and for private use, despite the fact that there are still deputies in parliament who are opposed to legalization. That's what reggae music, rasta and Bob Marley at the forefront did. But hemp has only been in Jamaica since the 19th century, it was brought by the Indian servants of the visiting English, and the boom in its consumption only began in the 60s and 70s - and how deeply it has penetrated the culture...
