In the Chelyabinsk region, 210 poppy bushes blew into a resident's yard

Operation "Mac" is continuing in the Chelyabinsk Region, the press service of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia for the Chelyabinsk Region told a REGNUM correspondent on July 20. As a rule, not only law enforcement agencies but also public organizations and ordinary residents of the Chelyabinsk Region take part in it.

For example, in a village located near Zlatoust, thanks to a message received on the hotline of the inter-district drug control department, 53 drug-containing poppy bushes were destroyed. The neighbors informed the drug police that young people who looked like drug addicts began to gather near a suspicious house. Checking the information received, drug control officers not only found 53 poppy bushes among the cabbage and garlic, but also devices for making the potion located in the house.

A funny incident occurred in Snezhinsk. Here, a young man himself showed the drug police the place where the drug-containing poppy was growing, assuring that the seeds of all 210 bushes were accidentally blown into one place, which, by a strange coincidence, was not noticeable from the street.

Criminal cases under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation have been initiated against the owners of the land plots, and investigative actions are underway. In total, since the start of the operation, drug police have initiated 280 criminal cases under articles related to illegal drug trafficking. More than half of them are classified as serious and especially serious. About 40 kilograms of drugs have been confiscated, including more than 20 kilograms of marijuana.
