Of course, one could assume that these are young people who are interested in music or literature, or in searching for the meaning of life, and nothing special, it would seem. But what this group of our fellow citizens is interested in becomes clear when, under the call for legalization of marijuana, hundreds of such young people have recently taken to the streets of Moscow every spring. And apparently, each of them believes that in this way they express their independence and individuality in a modern boring society.
Does any of them think that smoking marijuana is the use of drugs prohibited in our country, which can lead not only to administrative liability, but also to harmful consequences for health. It seems that these young people do not know that the harm from smoking cannabis to the lungs is not only not equivalent to smoking tobacco, but several times greater.
Thus, according to the conclusion of the British Lung Society, one marijuana cigarette contains as much tar and carcinogenic substances as seven cigarettes with tobacco. Moreover, the percentage of lung cancer in people who smoke, regardless of what exactly, is much higher than in non-smokers. But this is not the biggest problem for lovers of the "Rastafarian life". Thomas Lundquist, a clinical psychologist, holder of a degree in applied psychology, practicing in this field since 1978, presented in his scientific article the data of the latest scientific research in this field. It states, in particular, that regular use of cannabinoids contributes to significant disruptions of the cognitive processes of the central nervous system, which in turn leads to disruption of general verbal abilities, analytical thinking, memory and adequate perception of reality in users. Simply put, a person gradually begins to degrade, not understanding what is wanted from him, how and what to do in order to achieve the greatest efficiency in his field of activity, but he himself does not contribute to the formation of a personality in society and the achievement of any social success. The danger lies in the fact that cannabinoids, like a time bomb, do not immediately show their negative essence, but the longer the process of their regular use, the more difficult it will be for the personality to return to a normal mental state. It is unlikely that the Rastafarians themselves, many of whom are still far from adult awareness of their identity, united together and decided to march in a cannabis parade along the spring streets of Moscow to express their protest against themselves? No, for this there are people who earn good money on drug PR. They sit on the Internet and fool the heads of modern youth with tales about the usefulness of marijuana, or at least its harmlessness. They litter the entire Chistoprudny Boulevard of the capital (personal observation of the author) with green papers with calls to involve more youth in the drug trade of our country on the eve of the march. Few people know that these "gurus" are supported by funds of the "pseudo-liberal" direction, usually financed from abroad in the form of foreign grants. Who benefits from the mass dumbing down of Russian youth, the future gene pool of the nation? Well, certainly not the Russian people. Easy money - that's what motivates activists to write on the Internet about the "high" from and hand out invitations to have fun with passers-by. Don't build illusions, dear Rastafarians! You've been fooled since the appearance of Bob Marley, who easily and cheerfully made money and fame, on music under the narcotic high.
