Moscow drug police to face trial for robbery

A criminal group, which included employees of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation (FDCS) for the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, was detained in Moscow.

Drug police are suspected of violation of official powers, extortion and kidnapping.

As reported by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Drug Control Service, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow issued a decision to remand in custody police major Artur Nesrsesov (born in 1969), senior police lieutenant Konstantin Streltsov (born in 1982), who was dismissed from the drug control agencies for gross violations of service discipline, and an employee of the Zebra fitness club Mikhail Muratov (born in 1982).

On September 20, 2005, the aforementioned citizens, posing as drug enforcement officers, detained a Moscow businessman on Bolshaya Ordynka Street to check his documents. At the same time, threatening him with a weapon, they handcuffed him and took him to one of the service premises on 1st Novokuzminskaya Street in Moscow. Then, beating him and threatening him with imprisonment, they demanded $10,000 from the businessman. The victim handed over 270,000 rubles to the extortionists. He reported the fact of the robbery and kidnapping to the Internal Security Directorate of the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia.

The suspects in the crime are currently in custody. Investigative measures and verification of their involvement in other crimes are underway.
