J.K. Rowling accused of promoting drug addiction

The Malaysian Linguistic Association has proposed a ban on the sale of Harry Potter films and books. Linguists say the novels by J.K. Rowling are illicit drug advertisements.

"As a patriot, I cannot help but express my concerns over the publication of the seventh book about the adventures of Harry Potter. I believe that Rowling's works threaten the national security of our country," the association's president, Ambi Mohan, said on May 13.

According to him, hidden drug propaganda is already contained in the name of the main character of Rowling's books. "As a philologist, I know that the word "pot", from which the surname Potter comes, means marijuana in drug dealers' slang," said Ambi Mohan. Ambi Mohan called for strict measures to prevent the distribution of the book "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", as, according to him, further growth in popularity of the controversial image could significantly damage the primary and secondary education system and the security of the state as a whole.
