Using email lowers IQ more than marijuana

When reading spam, a person's brain goes to sleep. Nothing like this is observed even when smoking marijuana, Sky News reports.

The study was carried out by physiotherapist Glenn Wilson from King's College London University. His experiment involved 80 people, whom he monitored daily.

He found that people's intelligence quotient (IQ) dropped by 10 points if they tried to read too many messages sent to their email address. The same thing was observed in cases where subjects had to answer a barrage of phone calls or read too many texts. Such low brain activity is observed when a person awakens from sleep. Even after smoking marijuana, IQ only drops by four points.

A decrease in brain activity manifests itself in the fact that people begin to feel tired and lethargic. "This phenomenon really exists," says Wilson. According to him, the brain is “destroyed” by the passionate desire to view all messages.
