Most Russians do not support the idea of legalizing soft drugs06/27/2004
Moscow. June 25. INTERFAX - The overwhelming majority of Russians (84%) have a negative attitude towards the possibility of legalization and open circulation of so-called “soft” drugs (marijuana, marijuana, etc.) in Russia, believing that they cause irreparable harm to human health. Only 1% of respondents support this idea, believing that it does not in any way affect health. At the same time, 13% of Russians believe that “soft” drugs harm a person no more than other bad habits - for example, tobacco and alcohol. This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the research holding ROMIR Monitoring in mid-June in 45 regions of Russia with the participation of more than two thousand people. In anticipation of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drugs, celebrated on June 26, sociologists found that the majority of Russians - 81% - do not have relatives or close friends who take or have taken drugs without medical indications; 19% gave the opposite answer. This was discussed more often than the Russian average in cities with a population of over a million. According to the results of the study, young people aged 18-24 years (31%) have the most acquaintances with drug addicts.
