In early March, the local Federal Drug Control Service conducted a special operation in the city of Bezhetsk in the Tver Region. According to police colonel Viktor Kuzovkin, during the operation, 5 people were brought to administrative responsibility, and 2 more were taken into custody. A combat grenade, baseball bats and drugs were confiscated from the detainees. Six criminal cases have been opened. Independent experts who undertook their own investigation of these events have doubts that the Federal Drug Control Service conducted a special operation. According to the chairman of the national anti-corruption committee, Kirill Kabanov, the special forces lived openly in a city hotel for several days; all drug dealers could have gone underground. To investigate the human rights situation in Bezhetsk, a special commission was created, which included State Duma deputy Vladimir Ryzhkov, chairperson of the human rights organization "Helsinki Group" Lyudmila Alekseyeva and journalist Marat Khairullin. According to local media reports, on March 3, a special operation was actually carried out in the city to neutralize the largest united criminal group (OCG) in Bezhetsk, which was distributing drugs in the city. 120 grams of marijuana, a live grenade, baseball bats, brass knuckles, and nunchucks were confiscated from the detainees. In connection with the sale of drugs, 5 criminal cases have been initiated under Article 228, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sale and distribution of narcotic drugs). top.rbc.ru
