26 passengers on Amsterdam-Brussels train found to have drugs

Dutch rail police arrested 44 passengers on a drug-trafficking raid on an Amsterdam-Brussels train this weekend.

The Dutch National Police Service reported on Sunday that a specially trained dog had pointed out the detainees, but only 26 of them actually had drugs. The rest had the smell of Dutch coffee shops, where soft drugs such as marijuana and hashish are allowed, on their clothes.

In total, 230 grams of soft drugs, 45 grams of cannabis seeds, 4 grams of hard drugs, several tablets of the synthetic drug ecstasy and three weapons were confiscated during the operation.

Drug tests on train passengers were carried out on the stretch between the Dutch city of Roosendaal and the Flemish city of Antwerp in cooperation with the regional police, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Belgian police.
