Green pigeons have appeared in Holland

Don't be surprised if, while traveling through the Netherlands, you suddenly see the most ordinary pigeons, but with incredible plumage. One Dutch farmer, a great lover of birds, was looking for a way to protect his birds from predators. Having tried various methods, he settled on a rather original method. Now he paints his pigeons pink and green.

"I am simply crazy about birds! Of course, it is quite natural that predators hunt pigeons. But I would prefer that this does not happen to my birds," the farmer told the Dutch newspaper "Algemeen Dagblad".

It turned out that his invention is quite effective in scaring away hungry birds of prey. The Dutchman began painting the birds with safe water-based paint about a year ago, and during all this time there has not been a single attack on a painted pigeon. "The unusual color makes the pigeons no longer look like prey. Birds of prey simply do not recognize them," says the resourceful pigeon fancier.

It is noteworthy that most terrestrial mammals do not distinguish colors, but they see at night. But humans, monkeys, birds, insects see colors, but only in good lighting. True, nocturnal birds (for example, owls) are almost devoid of this quality, but they see well at dusk.
