Marijuana goes on sale in Spanish pharmacies

Marina Geli, the Catalan government's health adviser, said an agreement on this between regional authorities and the national health ministry had been reached and would be signed soon.

The common view is that smoking marijuana pushes a person to use heroin. Very often, the views of experts on this issue are polar opposites. As always, the answer lies somewhere in the middle between the polar points of view. Marijuana has no direct chemical connection with heroin. From the point of view of metabolism in the human body, each of these drugs cannot cause a chemically conditioned "craving" for the other. This fact can be considered scientifically proven. Another matter is the psychological relationship between drugs in the teenage environment.

According to research, marijuana use can quickly lead to addiction among teenagers who have their first serious run-ins with the law. People who smoke marijuana heavily and frequently develop a tolerance to it. "Tolerance" means that the user needs increasingly larger doses of the drug to get the same effect he or she previously got from smaller doses.
