Marijuana and Hashish Sales Fall in Holland

However, the number of cafes in Holland selling drugs has fallen by 4 percent compared to last year alone. Nationwide, there are 754 such establishments left, according to the ministry.

The reason for this is regional laws prohibiting the sale of drugs to children under 18 years of age and zonal rules that do not allow such cafes to be located near schools, says Kitty Pardel, a researcher at Tilburg University. According to her information, the number of cafes selling drugs has decreased by 36 percent (!) since 1997.
