The latest study by British scientists has shown that about half of young people who use marijuana experience side effects, such as paranoia. Of the 727 young people surveyed, 80% tried the drug as teenagers, with a significant majority before turning 18.

According to Barbara Harts, head of the YoungMinds organization that conducted the survey, young people are experimenting with "weed," which is very dangerous, if only because scientists have not sufficiently studied the phenomenon of cannabis's effect on the adolescent brain. As Harts reported, young people who regularly use marijuana are twice as likely to suffer from mental disorders compared to those who do not smoke.
