Regular attempts by “sympathetic American citizens” to legalize marijuana, which are now being undertaken in the state of Illinois, unexpectedly received support from where they were not expecting it. The church came out in favor of drugs.
"We have a moral duty to alleviate suffering," says the Rev. Jay Johnson, rector of the Litchfield United Christian Church. The priest believes that the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes is simply necessary. "Compassion and mercy are the cornerstone of Christianity!" - says the pastor.
Johnson is one of 40 state religious leaders who signed the petition to Illinois authorities. It calls for changing state laws to allow the sale of marijuana through pharmacies and hospitals with doctor's prescriptions.
Opponents of legalization are convinced that worthy men of the church were simply fooled by drug addicts. The goal of the latter is the total legalization of soft drugs following the example of the Netherlands. And the more supporters (even those speaking on behalf of God) they have, the better.
The legalization bill, backed by Senator John Cullerton, would allow people with "poor" health to legally buy up to 12 joints of weed a month from a pharmacy. Supporters of legalization say cannabis will help people suffering from diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy.
In recent years, the medical use of marijuana has been officially approved in California, Colorado, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, as well as Alaska and Hawaii.

I have never seen people smoking before. But people over 40 years old, after 3 days of drinking, are scary to watch, be it a wedding or New Year (something that is celebrated for more than one day).
