So, this is the 2nd full-fledged grow (there were 2 more before this, but I can’t call the results satisfactory, because I didn’t know then about the existence of such wonderful resources on the Internet).

Friends, I can fully confirm the postulate that the final product depends entirely on the genetics of the seeds, your diligence, qualifications and technical equipment. If you don’t have a normal grow box with all the necessary accessories, you shouldn’t count on serious results, it’s been verified!

I will note that the genetic material (seeds) that I used last time came with a plan from the seedbank "barizhny" :)). This cycle - "nirvana". Here are some photos of the previous harvest. Closer to the end of this report you will have the opportunity to compare the results.

CAMERA

Размеры: 140х74х240. Классический квадратный метр. ;) Каркас - деревянные бруски, соединенные металлическими уголками при помощи саморезов. Обшивка - листы гофрированного пластика. Прикреплены к деревянному каркасу мебельным степлером. Пластик - только черный, остальные могут просвечивать (хотя, если хорошо фольгой обклеить, будет нормально). Обычная пищевая фольга приклеена к листам при помощи двустороннего скотча (делается заранее до сборки). Открывающаяся вверх со складыванием дверь - листы, тоже соединенные между собой скотчем, но там сделано несколько слоев с обеих сторон, чтобы прочно держалось. На полу прозрачная пленка.

LIGHTING

Theory: the standard is considered to be 400 W per 1 sq. m. of area. Provided there is sufficient ventilation, you can use more. More about ventilation below.

Here it is, the mysterious DNaZ-400 Super.

Attention! Due to the design of its reflector, DNaZ fits well into rectangular boxes and not so well into square ones. I recommend an aspect ratio of 2:1. At the same time, for DNaZ-400/600 lamps, the length of the box should not be less than ~140 cm, otherwise the side rays of the lamp will hit the walls and not the tops of the plants.

I don't use any lights. The mounting system is not complicated, you can buy a suitable design in a hardware store or make it yourself.

The whole structure is very light and hangs on chains.

After you have assembled the structure, it is advisable to wipe the lamp with a clean napkin.

The independent throttle (it is sealed and has an igniter inside) is brought out to the balcony, because it heats up and quietly buzzes (sometimes they buzz quite a bit):

VENTILATION

Theory: in order to maintain the temperature in the box at a level of ~ +5 degrees relative to the room temperature, the fan capacity should be 1 cubic meter/hour for every 2 watts of lamp power.

This is a very important topic if you use hot lamps. I used to use this technique (100 cubic meters/hour). The system was quite noisy, including because of the resonating corrugation (many people are familiar with this).

The air temperature in the chamber was also not low, over 30 degrees, although it was growing normally. But then I gathered my courage and bought a two-speed duct fan (and a speed switch for it).

Technical data: - model - TD 250 (Spain), two-speed (1/2 speed), power consumption - 39W, noise - 28/23 dB, diameter - 100mm, 250/185 cubic meters per hour, price - $86. Switch - $16.

The fan is suspended in the chamber on curtain rods ;) It works very quietly, especially at low speed. And the location in the chamber itself further reduces noise. Air exhaust is directly from the top, from the lamp. Air flow into the chamber is gravity fed (for now :) ) The temperature dropped to 28 degrees!

The corrugated pipe goes outside. The flange is attached with screws to a plug made of special dense foam plastic (which practically does not crumble when you cut it, and holds the screws well)

I installed a check valve in the air duct. To prevent icy wind from blowing into the chamber in winter when the fan is off (at night). The check valve is a piece of air duct with blades that open under air pressure. When the fan stops, both blades return to a position perpendicular to the air duct (thanks to springs) and block the air from outside. It does not add much noise.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

Timer and thermo-hygrometer, fans for blowing bushes (3 pieces)

The fans are powered by an adapter (connected to the network via a regular terminal block, so as not to multiply sockets). By the way, I will note that the fans are designed for 12V, but mine work at 4.5V. Experimentally, it was found that this is enough, and they work in this mode almost silently.

Pots with removable tray, d28 cm, volume - 10 liters.

SOIL, EXPANDED CLAY, VERMICULITE AND FERTILIZERS

For this cycle I used a mixture of 35/35/30 - rose/lemon/expanded clay

Alas, I bought vermiculite later, it was not possible before. He turned out to be quite large. Mark 100.

But fertilizers, many people are well aware of them. Hyacinth I use it for root feeding, 15 ml per liter of water. I pour a liter under 1 bush. Feeding starting from the 3rd week 1-2 times a week.

Pokon (8/3/5), dear pest! I use it for vegetating a bush using Abert's method. The solution concentration is 4 ml. per 1 liter of water - that's what you need! It's interesting that against its background, Uniflor didn't impress me at all..... :?

GERMINATION AND VEGA

So, bought from Bumble (respect): 2 seeds each of WW, NL, NL+Haze, Skank Red Hair and Haze!!! The seeds were soaked on Valentine's Day, February 14, germinated from the 17th to the 23rd, and emerged from the 19th to the 28th.

1 WW and 1 SRh and 1 NL+Haze never saw the light of day.

The second SRh, as well as one Haze turned out to be guys (although I haven't transferred them to flowering yet, but they showed themselves), all the rest are girls. Another experimental bush (from unidentified seeds) grows according to Abert, but that's a separate story...

Unfortunately, there is a small gap in this part of the report (due to the lack of a camera at that time). Let's get straight to the middle of the vega:

From left to right: 1. Typical nitrogen deficiency, leaves are turning yellow evenly from below (after a couple of fertilizings with "Hyacinth" the yellowing stopped); 2. Girl.... 3. Egg. It's a boy. :evil: ...

The system operates 20/4 during vegetative growth and 12/12 during flowering.

So far I am very pleased with "Gyacinth", I have not observed any overdoses or deficiencies of substances.

Let's continue. A week has passed. The girls have grown up. So, the vega is already 45 days old (counting from the moment the first normal pair of leaves appear). The height is 80-90 cm (from the ground in the pot, of course, and not from the floor ;) ).

А вот какая-то ерунда с Haze! Все кусты как кусты, и никаких проблем, а этот покапризнее будет... Страдают нижние молодые листья, сначала слегка так желтеют, затем появляются некротические пятна. При прикосновении к черешкам таких листьев они легко отваливаются от ветки... Да и верхушки у этого куста - вяловаты... Я подумал и решил, что, может, это недостаток калия? А может передоз. :shock: С утра подкормил калийной селитрой, поглядим...

Толщина стебля в основании: d = 2 см (в самом толстом месте) До конца апреля планирую свести к день к 12/12. Уменьшаю световой день на 1 час за 3 дня.....

There were no helpers... I didn't even have time to figure out anything... when the alarm went off in the morning :shock: . I was simply knocked out! True, I was seriously sleep-deprived this week, and most likely this is the main reason. We'll live and see. :cool:

Another week has passed. Day 52 of Vega. The regime is 16/8, tomorrow it will be 15/9. Height is 95-110 cm. Now it is definitely clear with that leaf - it is not an overdose. If such symptoms are noted, then this is a deficiency!!!! But what... :? and because of what? Well, there can be two reasons: either there really is a lack of necessary elements, or, as BeHigh correctly said, the Ph is not in order, which, accordingly, causes a blockage of certain elements. Feeding with microelements, it seems, stopped this process. Also sprayed with "Bud", after which, as usual, growth acceleration is observed ;)

And now the varieties, varieties... (photos from April 21, 59 days of growth) Here is White Widow. Note: it has not been pruned.

And this is NL+Haze. The most compact bush. It bloomed under the 20/4 mode, reaching a height of 110, which surprised me a lot.

And this is the same Haze that was low in microelements.

BLOOM

Today is 14 days, like 12/12, and exactly 3 months since the seeds were soaked. The vegetation was 62 days (until April 30). The bushes have stretched out. The height of the highest (NL) is 160-170 cm, the lowest (NL + Haze, in the right far corner of the chamber) is 110-120 cm.

Don’t be embarrassed by the fact that the leaves are drooping. In 5 minutes the bushes will be watered and everything will look cheerful again. And something fell off from the bottom of the plants, I cut something off, now there is more space there. Almost no light reaches there anyway....

I fertilize with Pokon for cacti. Once a week. Doznyak as written on the bottle - 10 ml. per liter of water.

Haze. This cola has some serious potential.

NL+Haze. Let me remind you that she bloomed earlier than everyone else.

Yes! I have already tried all the leaves except NL+Haze (because it has no extra leaves, everything is compact and covered with buds, it's a pity to cut it)

The high is generally not bad in content, it doesn't overload you, you can communicate normally, listen to music, etc., but if you smoke too much, it can easily "kill" you, and just completely... A variety for universal use. The very high THC content makes you carefully approach the issue of the number of puffs. (I won't even mention the buds I smoked in Moscow recently, they were the strongest weed I've ever smoked. According to my calculations, at least 8 people got high from 1 gram)

I don't really like NL. The high is strong, but quite heavy and ponderous, and when it lets go, depression and irritability appear. Although, the contemplative state is probably not bad for listening to deep, meaningful music. The strain is for smoking exclusively at night. And the plants themselves are really quite unpretentious and dense.

Haze purely sativa strain (unlike mostly indica strains), good not only for the evening, but also for fun parties and morning/daytime smoking. Small leaves from a 2-month plant disperse (exactly "disperse"!!!) quite well: laughter :lol:, fun :D, smiles :) - all this is present in greater volume than from the other strains listed above.

Well, in general, I prefer skunk proportions (75/25) or pure sativa. :)

Again, a little macro. HL+Haze. The number and size of crystals increases right before your eyes.

One of the bushes (NL) is much longer than the others. In order to keep the tops of all the bushes at the same level, I bent the tops of this bush, securing them in this position with wire, the other end of which was hooked to the stem. Something like this:

By the way, not bad wire (as usual bought in Maksidom). It suits our purposes very well. Nearby on the right is a "combat piece", just taken from a bush.

The tops of the entire bush were bent, shortly before switching to the 12/12 mode (since I did not plan for bushes higher than 150 cm, some inconveniences begin, although in my chamber it is possible up to 180). I removed the wire a week later. By this time, all the tops had already bent towards the light. After removing the wire, the trunks remained "zyuka". This is what this bush looks like now:

In practice, this resembles a trained bush before stretching the net on SCRoG, with the difference that mine is already blooming... I don’t know how the ripening buds will hold on to these bent stems in the future... Will the stem break... :roll: We’ll check.

MONTH OF FLOWERING

So, a month has passed since the transfer to 12/12. I would like to please those who are interested with a very tasty photo shoot ;) But first a little about the process. There were no special changes in the conditions.

Temperature conditions - 22 (min, on a cold night) - 30.7 (max, on a hot day);

Humidity - 33 (min, on a hot day) - 78 (max, night);

Watering : in the morning every day according to the following scheme:

1. First day ~1 liter per bush;

2. The second day - a little (~ 0.3-0.4 l per bush).

If you don't water them on the second day, they dry out more than they should by the next morning (the third day). I can't water them in the evening, I get home from work late... :( I don't buy automatic waterers (although they are necessary, of course), because I'm already thinking hard about my future DWC.. ;)

Fertilizers. Today I did the last feeding with some fertilizer called "Tulip". The proportions are according to the instructions on the package, I'll scan the package later. NPK I think 4/14/12... Ph, though a bit high...10, we'll see... (And the expensive Pokon is over, the bastard... :( )

Some key takeaways on Vega : 1. 5 bushes per square is too much. Maximum 4. 2. But if you have 5 bushes per square (~0.2 sq.m. per bush) - do not use "Bud" during the vegetative stage (especially closer to flowering). The plants stretch out very much, the distances between the nodes increase, etc., which is not good in our case. All kinds of supports and garters are almost inevitable with such long stems and growing heavy buds. In general, I do not recommend it. Regarding Bud, I am conducting another experiment with flowering. One of the NL recently sprayed Bud a couple of times, the second did not touch it... We will see the size, taste, etc.... I will tell you the results.

So, 41 days in the 12/12 mode (almost 6 weeks of flowering). From tomorrow the mode will be 11/13. Also, all fertilizers have been stopped, only water, because taste is important! Flowering is entering its final phase. Leaves are starting to turn yellow. If you turn off the exhaust fan, the smell is SUCH :shock: that your head is spinning (from pleasure, of course :cool: ).

There's a photo of a pot (not a bucket!) upside down up there... There are two drainage holes, and roots really do come out of them. They take up almost the entire tray, so the water that flows down there after watering continues to be available to the plant and is successfully drunk by it... The roots don't really come out of the tray, and those that do break off and come back in... I think this combination is very successful, and such pots are ideal for growing in the ground.

Well, how are you going to water it... I think you can flood the clean drainage with water too ;) It's just that such holes are additional ventilation for the roots + insurance against overflow. In the grower's bible it is written that drainage holes are for suckers, etc. It seems to me that their presence has more advantages than disadvantages.

This morning I suddenly (after yesterday, I guess it hit me :shock: ) clearly understood that NL+Haze is ready! I haven't noticed any growth in bud mass for the last few days, there are no new tendrils, almost all the buds have closed..... No wonder, this bush has been blooming for more than 2 months. Considering that I'm not going to fertilize the plants anymore, it's probably useless to wait for the flowering wave any longer.

So, the first bush is cut down!!!

... and sent upside down to the closet for preliminary drying. I made this sign:

They haven't increased in height, but in diameter... well, I didn't measure it... but by eye, they're definitely 3 times larger...

So, I cut down the first bush, but my epiphany did not end and the next day (yesterday) I cut down another bush - NL. Both bushes were subjected to primary manicure (removed only the largest and/or yellow leaves).

I cut off the tops about 15 days after the start of the vegetative stage. The main thing here is to dry them properly (without rushing...) and then they will sprout.

As is well known, the best is the enemy of the good, and 70-80 percent of the hairs have already turned brown!!! :shock: Therefore, it was decided not to delay. And so.......

Weighed a Haze bush. About 700 grams. Although those are some scales...

And now the roots! We must still try to break this lump pulled out of the pot. It is simply cemented by roots. :shock:

And below are the roots that crawled through the drainage holes into the tray. They dried out because they didn't get enough water during flowering, I watered them sparingly.

So drying is ahead!

Honestly, I don't have any particular opinion, I'm just not sure that it helps seriously. It seemed to me that they were already ripe and there was no more time to wait, and I, fearing mold and all sorts of nasty things, decided to cut them. Plus, I don't have enough space in my apartment to conduct an experiment (to hold some of the bushes, and to cut down and dry some).

So, the second week of drying upside down has begun (8 days). The plants are hanging in the chamber where they grew. The ventilation is off. The temperature and humidity are stable, 21C and 60% respectively.

For the first time in a long time, what I see upsets me. :( Yes... they dry out a lot, of course. But some things remain ;)

And this is WW! She looks disheveled, but that's okay... I'm planning a full manicure and a thorough photo shoot this weekend.

So, for a little over two weeks, the plants hang upside down in the chamber where they used to grow.

The plants clearly haven't dried out in these two weeks. Small branches aren't breaking yet, but something is getting closer to that...

HOORAY! I BOUGHT A SCALE!!!!!

Palmscale 4.0. Included: 100 g test weight, weighing cup, case. Weighing limit - 200 g. Division value - 0.1 g. Price of issue - $100.

Measurements were taken immediately. The middle part of the head with NL was cut off, as well as the small part (from the series "it's okay for two" ;) ). I want to note that the product is not completely dry yet!

Weighing!!! Holding our breath, we put our head on the scales and....

After all this, I weighed the leaves and thought for a long time and carefully and calculated what the result would be....

Preliminary results of the yield of DRY weight per 1 sq.m. (from 5 bushes)

1. Foliage (hay + primary manicure) - approx. 300 gram.

2. Leaves after secondary manicure (very good) - about 35 gram.

3. Boshki - about 200 gram.

I reduced the weight in advance, considering that they would still lose moisture. Let me remind you that the results are preliminary, based on a pessimistic forecast. In 2 weeks everything will be known for sure.

In principle, the result is explainable. A number of mistakes made during cultivation (crowding, bud, lack of side lighting) were not slow to affect the output.

1. An empty Belomor weighs 0.3 grams. :D

2. To be GOOD, the average dose of weed per person at the moment is from 0.1 to 0.2 grams (depending on the condition of the smoker. There are people who do not take more than one drag of THIS, otherwise it "kills" them, there are also stronger characters).

Hi all . Before my consciousness is finally colored in red - yellow O - green , I am posting the last photos in this report. In the future I will try to supplement the report with some details that escaped me at the time...

I finally decided on the harvest. About 250 grams of pure buds. All the bushes yielded approximately the same, with the exception of Haze and WW. Haze is the record holder - about 65 grams. WW is more modest - about 35 (this is understandable - the bush grew slowly and with difficulty, lagged behind in development and was not pruned). The rest (2NL and NL + Haze) - somewhere around 45-55 grams.

Well, this is already a release. By all parameters.

This is super! Kakandr, you are a genius! ;) My huge respect for several reasons:
1) The work was painstaking, sensitive and worthy. You spared no money, time or effort on the Grass and it rewarded you.
2) The report is done at a pre-scientific level. I feel that the next harvest will not only be described and photographed, but also an algorithm will be created (it is still not there) in the form of a table understandable to anyone. The beginnings are there :)
3) The report is written in high-quality Russian (both from a literary point of view and in terms of grammar and punctuation), which is becoming more and more exotic in the vastness of the Runet. Special thanks for this.

There could be several reasons: firstly, stop watering them every day, they don’t like it (I recommend watering at least once every 3 days, this will provide ventilation for the roots); secondly, my personal opinion is that peat pots are nasty stuff; thirdly, you are sure that the seeds are not contaminated (although this is unlikely); most likely, you just overwatered them, so dry them, but don’t overdo it.
